St. Marks Canal

Finished this practice painting (from a picture taken at a trip to St. Marks years ago). I always knew I'd paint the scene, but tried to turn the gray day into a more sunny version. I borrowed a few palm trees from other scenes at St. Marks and the Wakulla river.

 

 

 

Demo Landscape

These are the stages of a painting I did early this month working from a demo from another artist (Ron Guthrie) on WetCanvas. It was a good exercise. I wouldn't say it's finished, but I don't have time to do any more on it!

Heron in the Pond - limited palette

This is a quick study/challenge to paint a scene using 2 complementary colors. I chose the Yellow Green/Red violet combination (plus white).

I decided not to do a larger painting yet

 

I spent all night scanning through my digital pics until I finally came across this picture I took in 2008.  I knew it was there somewhere, and I've been waiting (on what?) to paint this for some time!  I'll do a small practice version before I attack a larger canvas.
